In this verse, Arjuna is asking Krishna about the signs of a person who is deeply connected with a higher state of consciousness, often called being in 'transcendence.' Essentially, he wants to know what such a person looks like in their daily life and behavior.
Think about it this way: every person has certain traits or signs that show who they are. For instance, when someone is wealthy, they might wear nice clothes and drive an expensive car. If someone is sick, they might look tired or not feel well. Similarly, someone who is very wise or knowledgeable may speak carefully and understand complex ideas. So, just like these examples, Arjuna is curious about the traits of someone who is spiritually advanced and fully aware of Krishna.
When someone is truly in tune with Krishna and the divine, their way of communicating is very telling. Arjuna believes that how a person talks, how they walk, and how they interact with others reveals a lot about their inner state. He suggests that the most important sign of a spiritually advanced person is in their speech because our words can show our true thoughts and feelings. As the saying goes, 'A fool is not recognized until he speaks.' This means that someone might seem okay from the outside, but once they talk, their true character shines through.
The most noticeable trait of a person in Krishna's consciousness is that they talk about Krishna and matters related to Him. Their focus is very much on divine topics, and this reflects their inner state. Like how a person who loves nature would often talk about flowers and trees, or a sports fan would discuss their favorite team, a person in Krishna consciousness will naturally discuss Krishna.
Once their speech is centered around Krishna, other qualities will follow, such as how they think and feel about the world around them. Their actions, such as how they sit or walk, will also exhibit calmness, confidence, and a sense of purpose because they are deeply rooted in spirituality. Overall, Arjuna is seeking a deeper understanding of what it means to be spiritually aware and how such awareness manifests in someone’s life.
