In this verse, the Lord is explaining that He is completely unaffected by the actions that happen in the world. Just like a king who is above all the laws that apply to ordinary people, the Lord remains detached from the work done in the material world. He creates everything but does not get involved in the results or consequences of those creations.
Think of it this way: if you own a business, you are not responsible for the mistakes your employees might make. They handle their own jobs, and it is on them to deal with the outcomes of their actions. In the same manner, each person in the world makes choices and takes actions based on their desires, but those actions do not influence the Lord.
Many people focus on enjoying their lives through worldly pleasures, hoping to find happiness in things like wealth, fame, or even a better life after death. But the Lord, being complete and perfect on His own, does not desire these temporary pleasures. He is above all of that. The gods in heaven are just His agents, doing what He wishes, but they do not affect Him either.
To illustrate this idea, consider how rain helps plants to grow. Rain is essential for life, but it does not decide what kind of plants will grow. It simply falls, and then nature takes its course based on other factors like soil type and sunlight. Likewise, while actions in the world might seem significant, they do not bind or affect the Lord because He is not creating them with the intention of seeking joy from them.
Therefore, the Lord is inviting us to understand this truth. If we realize that He is untouched by our actions and does not desire rewards, we too can free ourselves from being caught up in the results of our actions. This freedom comes from a deeper understanding and a sense of detachment, enabling us to live in a more peaceful and fulfilling way.
