In this moment from the Bhagavad Gita, something amazing happens. Arjuna, who was previously just a friend of Lord Krishna, sees Krishna in a completely different way. When Krishna reveals His universal form, it fills Arjuna with wonder. He is so overwhelmed that his hair stands up, and he feels a rush of emotions. This is a physical reaction that happens when someone is deeply touched or amazed.
After witnessing this incredible sight, Arjuna doesn’t just continue to see Krishna as his buddy; instead, he realizes Krishna’s true greatness. He understands that Krishna is much more than just a friend. Now, he sees Krishna as the Supreme Lord, someone who deserves deep respect and honor.
So, Arjuna starts to pray. He folds his hands in a gesture of respect, a common way of showing humility and devotion in many cultures. In doing this, Arjuna is offering his heart and acknowledging Krishna's power and divinity. This shift from casual friendship to deep respect shows us how powerful experiences can change our relationships.
In spiritual terms, this represents a very important change. Great devotees of Krishna recognize Him as the source of all kinds of relationships. There are different ways we can connect with others and with the divine, and Krishna embodies all those connections. It’s like saying He is the ocean that holds all the rivers of relationships that we can have with each other, or even with God, in one place.
This teaches us that when we truly understand someone's greatness or the spirit of our relationship with them changes, it can lead to a deeper connection. With this insight, Arjuna moves from viewing Krishna merely as a friend into seeing Him as the ultimate source of everything, full of respect and awe. This change in understanding is something anyone can relate to—when we realize someone's true worth or capability after seeing them in a new light, our feelings towards them naturally become deeper and more respectful.
