Interpretation

In this verse, Arjuna, who is speaking to Lord Krishna, is expressing a desire to see something special. He acknowledges Krishna as the greatest being and recognizes that he can see Krishna's true form, but he wants to see how Krishna is part of the whole universe. Basically, Arjuna is curious about how Krishna exists everywhere and how He is connected to all that is around them.

Arjuna's motivation is not just about his own curiosity. He wants to experience this visual display because he anticipates that there will be people in the future who doubt Krishna's greatness. Some might look at Krishna and think He is just a regular person without recognizing His true, divine nature. Therefore, Arjuna wants to see Krishna's universal form as proof of Krishna’s real power so that he can show others what the truth is.

It’s also important to note that Arjuna isn’t asking for this vision out of personal need or desire; he’s already satisfied with Krishna's human-like form. He knows Krishna is special. But Krishna understands that Arjuna has a bigger purpose—wanting to confirm Krishna’s identity for the sake of others. This is crucial because in the world, there will be individuals who claim to be divine or special, and Arjuna wants to make sure there's a clear way to distinguish who truly is God. A genuine god can show the universal form, and that's a way to separate truth from false claims.

So, when Arjuna asks to see the universal form, he really wants to help others understand Krishna’s greatness and not just prove it to himself. In a way, he is thinking ahead for the sake of humanity, wanting to guide others who might be confused about spiritual truths.
