Interpretation

This verse talks about how when a person is strongly influenced by the 'mode of passion', they experience a lot of intense feelings and desires. Let's break down what this means in everyday terms.

When someone is in this mode of passion, they often feel a deep sense of restlessness. This means that they are not happy with what they have. Instead of feeling content with their life as it is, they always want more. For example, if someone lives in a simple home, instead of appreciating its comfort, they might start dreaming of building a huge, fancy palace. The thought of having more and better things consumes their mind. They believe that these things will make them happy forever.

People in this state are also driven by strong cravings for sensory experiences. This could mean anything from wanting delicious food to seeking out fun and excitement. They may find themselves thinking about what they can do next to satisfy these desires. This endless chase for more pleasure shows that they are strongly engaged in the mode of passion. They feel like they always have to keep searching for that next thing that will give them joy.

Moreover, their relationships can also reflect this state. An individual in the mode of passion may want constant company and interaction with family and friends, fearing loneliness. They often become overly attached to their loved ones, wanting to be around them all the time for comfort and pleasure.

This unrelenting chase for pleasure, attachment to things and people, and the feeling that you have to keep working hard to gain more are clear signs that a person is influenced by the mode of passion. Instead of enjoying the present and finding joy in simplicity, there’s a feeling of urgency and dissatisfaction.

In summary, this verse warns us about the drawbacks of being caught up in the 'mode of passion', where the desire for more and more can lead to a never-ending cycle of seeking and restlessness instead of lasting happiness.
