Interpretation

In this verse, it talks about what happens when a person practices yoga correctly. The main goal of yoga isn't to just feel good or get better health; it's something much deeper. When someone truly practices yoga, they're trying to get away from the troubles of everyday life and the material world around them. This means they’re not looking for things like wealth, fame, or even better physical health as their goal. Instead, they want to stop being attached to all these desires and distractions.

Imagine the busy life we all lead, full of worries about jobs, money, and relationships. These things can weigh us down, and it's easy to get lost in them. When yoga is practiced properly, it helps a person to step back from these everyday struggles. The verse emphasizes that giving up material existence doesn't mean disappearing into nothingness or a state of emptiness. Some people think it means becoming like a cloud with no direction or purpose, but that's not the case.

Instead, letting go of this material life means finding a much better place, often referred to as the spiritual sky or the kingdom of God. This is considered a beautiful and lively place, full of light, happiness, and love, which is home to the Supreme Being, often known as Krishna in this context. The verse describes this place as having its own natural light, unlike our physical world, where we need the sun, moon, or even electricity to see anything. The spiritual kingdom shines on its own, filling people with joy and peace.

To summarize, practicing yoga is about controlling our thoughts, actions, and emotions so we can stop getting caught up in material needs. By doing this, a yogi - someone who practices yoga - can attain a higher state of being in the spiritual realm where everything is perfect and fulfilling. It's about having a deeper understanding and connection with something divine rather than just trying to improve one’s material circumstances.
