In this verse, Krishna explains what happens when someone practices yoga correctly. When a person practices yoga, their mind becomes calm and steady. Think of yoga like a tool that helps you focus and clear away all the noise and distractions in life.
As the mind becomes quieter, the person also learns to detach themselves from things that usually bother them, like stress, worries, and desires for material things. This quiet state is called 'samadhi,' which is a deep sense of stillness where they feel at peace.
When they reach this state, they begin to see themselves for who they really are—not just their body or their ego but something much deeper. Imagine peeling away layers of an onion. When you get to the center, that's where the true essence lies. In the same way, by seeing the 'Self' through this quiet mind, they understand their true, spiritual identity. This recognition helps them feel a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment that comes from connecting with their inner self instead of seeking happiness from outside sources.
This idea connects to the teachings of a yoga system created by Patanjali, where cleaning or clearing one's mind is essential. By doing so, a person can recognize the divine or spiritual part of themselves, known as the 'Supersoul.' It's important to note that yoga isn't about merging or losing oneself in the Supreme; instead, it's about discovering one's distinct spiritual nature and realizing their connection to the Supreme Being, which leads to true happiness.
In short, this verse encourages us to practice patience and calmness through yoga. It reminds us that by calming our minds, we can find true satisfaction from within, free from the chaos of daily life.
