Interpretation

In this verse, Arjuna, the warrior prince, is expressing a deep concern to Krishna, his charioteer and guide. Arjuna has a question that troubles him, and he feels that only Krishna can help him understand it completely. He acknowledges that his doubt is serious and that no one else, except Krishna, has the wisdom or authority to clear it up.

Arjuna is worried about what happens to those who try to follow a spiritual path—those who practice yoga or seek a deeper understanding of life—if they don't succeed. He questions what fate awaits them after they put in effort but don’t manage to reach their goals. Arjuna's doubt comes from the uncertainty of life and spiritual practice.

Krishna is seen as the ultimate authority when it comes to knowledge about everything: the past, present, and future. He knows how the universe works, how living beings strive for success, and what happens to them afterward. This means that since Krishna has the total picture—understanding everything that has ever happened, what is happening now, and what will happen—his insights are considered the most reliable.

By seeking Krishna's help, Arjuna emphasizes that even the wisest sages or thinkers cannot match Krishna's knowledge. Many great scholars depend on material things or nature, which are limited. But Krishna is beyond all of that; he knows the true nature of reality. So, when it comes to important questions about life and existence, Krishna’s views hold the highest importance.

In simple terms, this verse reflects a deep trust in Krishna's wisdom and also highlights the confusion many people feel about the outcomes of their spiritual journeys. Arjuna is looking for clear answers because he understands that only Krishna possesses the understanding and insight needed to eliminate his doubts completely.
