Interpretation

In this verse, Krishna, who is the Supreme Lord, is addressing Arjuna lovingly as a dear friend. He tells Arjuna to pay attention again because he wants to share something very important that will help him. Krishna refers to his words as 'supreme,' meaning they hold great importance and power. This shows that what Krishna is about to say is not just any advice; it's something that can lead to Arjuna's happiness and well-being.

The term 'paramam' indicates the highest or most important level of existence. According to a wise sage named Parasara Muni, this refers to a being that has full qualities in six key areas: strength, fame, wealth, knowledge, beauty, and the ability to let go of things. Krishna, while here on Earth, manifested all of these impressive qualities.

The message Krishna is giving to Arjuna builds on what he has shared before. In the earlier chapters, particularly from the Seventh Chapter, Krishna talked about his different energies and how they work. Now, he shifts focus in this chapter to tell Arjuna more about his specific qualities and powers. This is part of Krishna’s plan to deepen Arjuna’s understanding and strengthen his faith in Krishna.

Krishna wants to ensure that Arjuna appreciates and understands who he truly is and why he should feel connected to him. The more Arjuna learns about Krishna's divine nature, the stronger Arjuna's devotion can become.

In simpler terms, Krishna is saying: 'Listen closely, my friend. I am here to remind you of important truths that will help you. I want you to find joy in knowing who I am and how I can support you.' This reflects Krishna's caring nature and his desire to guide Arjuna effectively.
