Interpretation

In this verse, the Supreme Lord is telling us that understanding His true greatness and divine powers is really important if we want to serve Him sincerely. It’s like knowing the special qualities of someone you admire. For example, if you know that someone is not just kind but also wise and brave, your respect for them grows, and you naturally want to be close to them or help them in any way you can.

The verse tells us that many people may think of God as great, but they often don’t understand the deeper aspects of His greatness. Think of it this way: if you only know the surface details about someone, like their name and where they live, you can't truly appreciate or love them fully. The more you learn about their qualities, their actions, and their kindness, the deeper your relationship can become.

When someone really knows and feels the greatness of God—like His kindness, His ability to forgive, and how He looks after everyone—they naturally feel a strong desire to serve Him. This serving isn’t just about doing things; it’s about fully dedicating their hearts and lives to Him out of love and respect.

The verse reassures us that there should be no doubt about this process. If we learn and understand God's qualities through sacred texts like the Bhagavad-Gita or the Srimad-Bhagavatam, we will find ourselves irresistibly drawn to worship and serve Him without any hesitation.

So, in simple terms, when we truly understand how wonderful and powerful God is, it brings us joy and purpose. It makes us want to give our love back to Him through our actions and devotion. That’s the essence of engaging in true devotional service.
