Interpretation

In this verse, Krishna is telling Arjuna that while there are many good actions or sacrifices a person can perform, it’s very important to do these actions without hoping for something in return. Imagine you help someone expecting they will help you back; that's not the right attitude. Instead, Krishna encourages doing good things simply because it's your duty, not because you expect a reward.

For example, if you donate money or time to help others, do it because it’s the right thing to do and helps people, not because you want to gain something from it.

Krishna highlights that while performing sacrifices or good deeds is meaningful, the motivation behind these actions is what truly matters. When one does things with the expectation of gaining something material, it might not lead to true growth or spiritual development.

Krishna is also emphasizing that there are some sacrifices or good deeds that uplift one’s spirit and create positive growth in terms of spirituality. These actions are essential and should be encouraged. You should focus on activities that draw you closer to spiritual understanding or awareness of Krishna. Any work that helps develop a deeper connection to divine consciousness is worthwhile.

Additionally, it's noted that the highest form of spirituality comes from actions that promote love and devotion to the Lord, which means one should accept any task that helps them deepen their relationship and devotion to God. Overall, Krishna is teaching that true renunciation and selflessness come from performing one’s responsibilities without attachment to the results.
