Interpretation

In this verse, Sanjaya, who is the charioteer and advisor to King Dhritarashtra, shares what he has experienced. Earlier in the Bhagavad Gita, King Dhritarashtra was anxious and curious about what was happening on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, as his sons were about to fight against the sons of Pandu. He was blind and could not see anything himself, so he asked Sanjaya to report back to him about the events occurring. Sanjaya was able to see everything on the battlefield and described to the king what was happening through special vision granted to him by his teacher, Vyasa.

Now, Sanjaya recounts the conversation between two significant figures: Lord Krishna, who is considered the Supreme God, and Arjuna, his devoted friend and warrior. This conversation holds great importance because it covers not just the immediate issues of war and duty but also deep philosophical truths about life, purpose, and spirituality. The dialogue between the two is phenomenal because it brings forward ideas and lessons that are timeless and impactful.

Sanjaya expresses his amazement at this conversation, stating that it is so wonderful that it moves him deeply—so much so that it brings goosebumps to his skin! This shows that the teachings shared between Krishna and Arjuna are not just academic or theoretical; they touch the heart.

Essentially, Sanjaya acknowledges that the discussion is truly exceptional and that it carries significant wisdom. He implies that anyone who hears and understands this conversation can benefit greatly, gaining insight into their own lives and the larger meaning of duty and righteousness. Additionally, he hints that wherever Krishna (the embodiment of divine guidance) and Arjuna (the seeker of truth) are present, there is bound to be success and victory.

In simple terms, this verse emphasizes how important the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna is. It is filled with wisdom that can lead to happiness and success if we pay attention to it and apply it in our lives.
