In this verse, Krishna is explaining to Arjuna that even if he feels confused or hesitant and chooses not to follow Krishna’s advice, he will still end up acting. This is because every person has a natural tendency or a specific way of behaving, which is shaped by the qualities they possess. These qualities come from three fundamental aspects of life: goodness, passion, and ignorance, which also influence how we think and act in daily situations.
When Krishna says that Arjuna is under illusion, it means he might not fully see the reality of the situation. He might think he can ignore Krishna's guidance and that he can sidestep action altogether. But the truth is that everyone is influenced by their inherent nature—it's almost like being pushed by an invisible force made up of their personality traits and experiences.
So, even if Arjuna decides not to fight, if it’s in his nature to be courageous, he will find himself acting according to that quality eventually, even if it feels against his will. It’s like someone who is naturally drawn to help others; even if they try to avoid helping, they will often still end up lending a hand because that is just who they are.
Krishna is stressing that while we might think we are in control of our decisions, there are powerful influences within us that guide our actions more than we might realize. This is why it’s essential to align our actions with the Supreme Lord’s guidance—by doing so, we can lead a more fulfilling and better-directed life. When we embrace this guidance, we rise above our natural inclinations and become more than just reactions to circumstances; we become purposeful and directed in our actions.
